frequently asked questions
Luffas are part of the cucumber family and grow on climbing vines, not in the ocean. Ours are grown in California, without synthetic fertilizers and harvested by hand. They're ready for use after drying naturally in the sun with no heavy processing required.
how are luffas grown?
how long will a luffa last?
With regular use, a luffa can last several weeks to a few months. Letting it dry completely between uses will extend its lifespan. When it’s time to replace it, compost it so no waste is left behind.
what makes your luffas better for the environment than plastic sponges?
Unlike synthetic sponges, our luffas are made from natural plant fibers, so they contain no plastic or microplastics. They’re fully compostable at the end of their life, helping keep waste out of landfills and plastic out of waterways.
where can I use a luffa?
Luffas are great for the kitchen, bathroom, and beyond. Use them to scrub dishes, clean countertops, or gently exfoliate skin. They’re tough on messes but safe for most surfaces — and they work without releasing harmful microplastics.
what should I do with my luffa when it wears out?
Once your luffa has reached the end of its life, you can place it in your home compost or green waste bin. It will break down naturally, returning nutrients to the soil and leaving nothing harmful behind.
what is carbon negative?
Carbon negative means a product removes more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than it produces over its life cycle. Our luffas capture carbon as they grow, require minimal energy to produce, and are compostable, making them a truly climate-friendly choice.
